All individual treatment depends on what the client needs. I use Pia Mellodys model of working with Co-Dependence which is a state of immaturity in one of these five areas: Self Esteem (Loving the Self), Boundaries (Protecting the Self), Reality (Knowing the Self), Self Care and Interdependence (Taking care of the Self), and Moderation (Containing and moderating the Self). Everyone has been damaged in one or most all of these areas.
By using these Five Core Self Skills individuals growl into a healthy relational self. I work with ones Family of Origin (FOO) by helping them to understand their Wounded Child, Adaptive Child (adaptive patterns from childhood that keep them stuck) and grow their Functional Adult. Strengthening and growing a functional adult self is essential for successful relationships and a satisfying life.
I also stress the importance of using breathing, centering, mindfulness and meditation as a practice of healing and wholeness.
I offer 1 hour sessions for individuals on a bi-monthly basis. At times, due to distance, some clients choose to have a two or three hour-long session for intensive work on a monthly basis. I also offer video web conferencing sessions via Skype.
In between sessions I recommend homework. Homework consists of journaling, reading books or listening to recommended CD's, attending appropriate workshops or groups which help incorporate a new behavioral practice in their lives.
